The president of the New Haven Clock Company dies suddenly in August 1902, and Camp is immediately named general manager. After a wait of seven months, he is named company president; prior to his acceptance of the presidential appointment, a new capitalization for the company is arranged with significant new investment by the two principal shareholders. A month after appointment as president, Camp attends a football rules committee meeting and helps enact rules for 1903. Also in 1903, Camp is named a trustee and secretary-treasurer of Hopkins Grammar School and has an important role in helping the school’s financial and educational recovery.
