The conclusion argues that despite the positive and progressive contributions of the trend industry, its current path mostly furthers the inequities of global capitalism and promotes futures that serve only the interests of the powerful. In contrast, the chapter calls for public futures, which include different means of conducting, distributing, and educating others about futures research.
